The Benefits of Private Fire Subscriptions

Privatization opens up a realm of resources and the profit motive, city and state officials are able to ensure that public services such as emergency service are provided at a high quality and low cost. It is a strategy to lower the costs of government and achieve higher performance and better outcomes for tax dollars spent.

Officials and citizens can use privatization to achieve a number of goals such as: cost savings, access to expertise, better quality, improved risk management, innovation, meeting peak demand, and timeliness of service. Official’s reports that the most important factor in privatization’s success are financial considerations, followed by quality of work, meeting peak demand, and timeliness of service. Data shows that private firms perform better, have faster access to technology, and are most cost-effective than public agencies.

Our country was founded on the capitalist ideal, which today provides private companies service communities with emergency services. This alternate method provides cost- effective protection to areas that do not have government service or have chosen to reduce costs through the option of privatization to serve their communities.  Having private fire protection is an opportunity for citizens to exercise freedom of choice over having or not having fire protection without being forced to pay more taxes for a service they may not need or want.
